Alice Grimmelsmen: Bi-lingual Speech and Language Pathologist shares her experience

Alice is a bi-lingual SLP from Denver, CO. She dedicated hours of time this summer to assessing some of students for Alternative Communication Devices and training staff on their importance and use. Manos Unidas is very grateful for her donation of time, skill, professionalism and of course donated equipment she was able to get her hands on for us!

“Manos Unidas is everything I love. Committed teachers, a collaborative environment, really cute kids with a variety of abilities (the young adult program rocks too)- if you have a special skill or two and some spare time on your hands, share them here! I spent 7 weeks providing direct and indirect speech-language services mostly in Camino Nuevo and doing a few AAC evaluations in Phawarispa. I was thrilled (but not surprised) to hear that some of the strategies that the coordinators, teachers and I worked together to develop are still being implemented.

Cusco is a magical city and my host family (Rossanna and Lucho) deserves a shout-out as well.

I would come back in a heartbeat.”

Abrazos,
